Conor Hourihane scored his 50th league goal with an excellent free kick in Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest.
The Irish international has now scored five goals in eight league outings for the Championship club, who are now up to ninth in the table after a slow start to the season.
The 26 year old came off the bench in Ireland’s 1-0 defeat to Serbia at the Aviva last time out, and the Cork native will be hoping to break into Martin O’Neill’s first eleven for the visit of Moldova next month.
Albert Adomah had given Steve Bruce’s side the lead before Hourihane’s international teammate Daryl Murphy drew Forest level with his fifth goal for the Nottingham club.
However, Hourihane sealed the win for Villa with a free kick which bent around the wall into the bottom corner.
