Watch Conor Hourihane’s stunning free kick from the stands

Conor Hourihane may have played his last game for Barnsley, but the Corkman certainly signed off in style.

The Barnsley skipper has been one of the Championship’s standout players this season, and he further showcased his ability with a sumptuous free kick in his club’s 3-2 win over Leeds yesterday.

The 25 year old took to Twitter after the game to dedicate the win to the Barnsley fans, who will be sad to see their star midfielder leave Oakwell if rumours of an imminent transfer are to be believed.

The Irish midfielder has been linked with an January move to Aston Villa, who are reportedly willing to quadruple his wages. Despite his seemingly inevitable departure this month, he still gave his all for his team, producing a man of the match performance alongside his winning goal.

One fan in the home end caught Hourihane’s stunning free kick on camera, and needless to say the goal sparked wild celebrations in the stands.

Steve Bruce sent scouts to the game, and the Villa boss will certainly be impressed by Hourihane’s performance.

Leeds had taken a first half lead through Chris Wood, but Barnsley scored either side of the break through Tom Bradshaw and Ryan Kent. Hourihane’s 54th minute goal proved to be the winner, after Leeds pulled the tie back to 3-2 courtesy of a controversial penalty.

Here is his delightful strike from another angle.
