Ireland produced an impressive performance in their 3-1 victory over Uruguay at the Aviva Stadium last night.
Jonathan Walters, Cyrus Christie and substitute James McClean scored for the boys in green, who made eight changes to the side who were outclassed by Mexico in New Jersey.
In the 27th minute, Walters put Ireland ahead from 20 yards with a brillant strike – which you can below – before Atletico Madrid’s Jose Gimenez rose highest in the box to draw Uruguay level.
Cyrus Christie restored Ireland’s lead with a well taken goal on his left foot, and James McClean’s drilled shot found the bottom corner in the 78th minute.
There were plenty of positives for Martin O’Neill’s men, and the Ireland boss will be hoping his side can produce a similar performance against Austria this week.
