Walters set for Championship loan

Jon Walters is set to join Ipswich Town on loan.

The Republic of Ireland international has struggled to make an impact at Burnley, and previously spent three seasons with Ipswich in the Championship.

The 34-year-old made just three Premier League appearances for the Clarets last season, and will be eager for first team football at this stage of his career.

Ipswich have endured a difficult start to the season, amassing just two points from their opening five matches.

The Tractor Boys are rooted to the bottom of the table, and will be hoping that Walter’s experience and quality can fire them up the table.

Walters is not the only Irish player on the move this week, with former Cork City defender Kevin O’Connor joining Crewe Alexandra on loan from Preston.
