“The best midfield performance I’ve seen all season” – Harry Arter lauded for Spurs display

Jamie Redknapp has hailed Harry Arter’s performance for Bournemouth against Spurs on Saturday as “the best midfield performance I’ve seen all season.”

Arter, who has three caps for Ireland, has been in inspired form for the Cherries, and was a key performer in the 0-0 draw against Tottenham yesterday.

Eddie Howe’s side produced an energetic, disciplined performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s visitors, and had their own fair share of chances in an entertaining stalemate.

Arter, 26, has been receiving plaudits all season for his performances, and Jack Wilshere recently claimed that “he is definitely up there with some of the midfielders I’ve played with”.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp reserved special praise for the combative midfielder after the game yesterday.

“[That is] the best midfield performance I’ve seen all season… in the Premier League” he said.

“Honestly, he was all action. He’s a player that was at Woking a few years ago, playing in non-league, and it shows you they (similar players) are out there if you give them an opportunity.

“It wasn’t just the tackles. It was the passing, it was the energy he showed. He was a player who epitomized how Bournemouth played today.”

The Irish international covered an impressive 10.7km, made seven tackles, and had a pass accuracy rate of 80%.

Eddie Howe also stated recently that he believes Arter’s form will be “rewarded by Ireland.”

One thing is clear.

Arter is forcing Martin O’Neill to take notice.
