Alan Judge made his long-awaited return to football yesterday after 637 days out injured.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder came off the bench after 70 minutes in Brentford’s 1-0 defeat to Notts County in the FA Cup, much to the delight of the home fans.

Judge had been a key player for the Championship side before suffering a leg break in April 2016, which also ruled the 29 year old out of contention for Euro 2016.
It was a massive blow for the exciting midfielder, who was named in that season’s Football League Championship PFA Team of the Year.
He was treated to a standing ovation at Griffin Park when he was introduced, and he took to Twitter after the game to thank the Brentford fans for the reception he received, and all those who made his recovery possible.

Brentford are currently 11th in the Championship table, and will be delighted to call upon the services of their influential playmaker once more, who they affectionately call ‘The Irish Messi’.
