Daryl Horgan outlines training differences between Dundalk and Preston

It’s been a whirlwind twelve months for Daryl Horgan.

The Irish winger experienced a remarkable Europa League campaign with Dundalk, received his first international call-up, and earned a move to Championship side Preston.

Preston are currently 11th in the Championship table, and just seven points off the promotion places.

Horgan has made five appearances for his new club, including two starts, and is enjoying life at Deepdale.

The 24 year old was handed his debut as a substitute against Arsenal in the FA Cup, and provided a brilliant assist against Brighton on his league debut.

He spoke to the Lancashire Post about the main difference in training between Dundalk and Preston.

“It was evening sessions back home,” Horgan said.

“We were pretty much full-time but a couple of the lads had jobs as well so that would mean you’d train in the evenings.  You would do your gym work in the morning and then train at 6pm. I was still in the gym at the crack of dawn back home.”

“It’s a different set-up here but one that’s going to be good for me. I’m enjoying the training, with it being in the morning – it’s brilliant. Playing in the Europa League definitely helped me get up to the intensity a lot quicker.”

Andy Boyle, who joined Preston at the same time as Horgan, is in contention to make his debut for the club in this weekend’s home tie with Brentford.
