Will Keane to declare for Ireland

Will Keane is set to declare for the Republic of Ireland.

The FAI have begun the process of formalising the striker’s declaration, according to The Irish Times.

Keane is currently on loan at Ipswich from Hull City, and is the twin of Everton defender Michael Keane.

The former Manchester United forward represented England at underage level – winning the Under-17 European Championship in 2010 – but has failed to make a senior breakthrough for the country of his birth.

He qualifies for the Boys in Green through his father.

The 26-year-old has endured an injury ravaged few years, and has scored just one goal for Hull in three seasons since joining the Championship club.

He has scored seven senior goals in 81 career appearances thus far.
