Ireland v. Germany

Kevin Doyle

YBIG: What do you think of the look-alike we did in the latest issue of Stephen Hunt and Rambo?

KEVIN: Ye, we did that one before. That’s been in the dressing room I think.

YBIG: We had one for you before as well, Gordon Ramsay. Can you see a comparison?

KEVIN: Do you think I look like him? I wish I could cook like him!

YBIG: Most memorable moment in your career with Ireland so far?

KEVIN: Probably scoring against Slovakia at Croke Park (Interview done before the trip to Slovakia)

YBIG: Role model as a kid?

KEVIN: Any of the Irish teams that played in the World Cups.

YBIG: Longest in the shower?

KEVIN: Leroy Lita.

YBIG: Worst dress sense?

KEVIN: Hunty. He has some terrible numbers.

YBIG: Character in the Ireland team?

KEVIN: Paul McShane.

YBIG: Eastenders or Coronation Street?

KEVIN: Coronation Street.

YBIG: Favourite from Girls Aloud?

KEVIN: Nadine. She was looking well in the paper there the other day.

YBIG: Describe the Croke Park experience?

KEVIN: It was brilliant because it was such a memorable occasion but because the pitch is bigger and the stadium much bigger it’s not as loud as it would be in a smaller stadium.

YBIG: If you were not a footballer?

KEVIN: If I wasn’t a footballer I would be working in my parents’ pub.

YBIG: You were probably the all time Premiership bargain buy, what do you think of that?

KEVIN: I don’t know about that one really. I haven’t really heard that, I heard Reading’s bargain buy alright. Hunty was got for free so you could say it’s him.

YBIG: Rosslare or Courtown?

KEVIN: Rosslare. I stayed there in the caravan for a good few years.

YBIG: Price is Right or Where in The World?

KEVIN: Where in the World. It was on a Sunday night wasn’t it?

YBIG: Bar Riise in Reading or Bogard’s in Rosslare?

KEVIN: Bogard’s was shut by the time I was old enough to go there. I don’t go to Bar Riise either so I will say Bogard’s.

YBIG: Favourite Ireland memory?

KEVIN: David O’Leary’s penalty and Packie Bonner’s save.

YBIG: Toughest defender you have played against?

KEVIN: Jamie Carragher. I’m always playing against him when I am on my own up front. He is always talking. He is a good organiser.

YBIG: Best ever Ireland player?

KEVIN: Robbie Keane, he is the record Irish goal scorer and Liam Brady and Roy Keane.

YBIG: Top tunes on your iPod?

KEVIN : Anything by Jack Johnson, some REM, Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

YBIG: No Westlife?

KEVIN: No Westlife.

YBIG: Wally Downes (part of Reading staff ). Is he as mad as he looks?

KEVIN: Ye, worse.

YBIG: Favourite crisps?

KEVIN: Normal Tayto cheese and onion. That’s cause I’m away and when I come back I love a packet of them. Or BBQ flavoured Hoola Hoops.

YBIG: Do you watch the X Factor?

KEVIN: I watch the first couple of shows when the real plonkers are on it.

YBIG: Would you ever appear on it?

KEVIN: No way. I watch it for the first couple of shows and that’s it.

YBIG: Well Kevin, you had a read through of the fanzine earlier, what did you think.

KEVIN:  Very good. I like the comparison of Hunty and Rambo, suits him. I haven’t seen it before either. A quality read, I didn’t know about it before so I will be looking out for it in the future. (Cheers Kev!)
