Lot of narky c4nts on here recently.
i'll go to as many aways as possible subject to finances.
This set of qualifiers will be a serious stretch on funds in a tough time.

Great draw but tough for travel.
Will try and get to as many as possible, but sorting visa's will be a pain. For some reason I don't think my Yank status will go over so well in Russia. ![]() |

Am going to go to Russia but seeing as I could be making the trip alone I may go for the package option.
Will be staying in Bratislava for the Slovak match no doubt, unlike others had a cracking time the last time bar the result, once you're not staying too far from the centre you should have no problems and stick to the local bars. Yes, they mightn't be the friendliest bunch but sure we can get over that. Upon reflection, I hope there are no double headers as it's better when the trips are streched out. Yerevan and Skopje I'm looking forward to most. Roll on September ![]() |

to be honest i think i'd book a central hotel and use the bar there in moscow. really comes down to common sense. i wonder do they bring the away fans into the ground in convoy? id imagine thats necessary

I was in Moscow in 2002 and an old guy in our group got turned over by a gang of thugs. I came across two irish lads who were distraught as the police had confiscated their passports and made them pay for them to be returned. I have never seen so many irish fans drink in the hotel bar after the game rather then go out as storys during the day of fans been hassled filtered through.
Just a word of warning in 2002 the cops shut the metro early after the game and left many fans stranded and then started stopping private cars and demanding they bring irish fans back to the city centre.
Moscow maybe fine to visit normally but when there is a game on the nutters come out. Will i go back i haven't decided. I would seriously consider a day trip if there was one. I am just saying it as it was and i am not scaremongering. Edited by SuperDub - 08 Feb 2010 at 7:57pm |

I wouldnt let the storys put me off Russia tbh, doubt ill be going there purely due to funds though, very expensive trip.
Andorra and Sloakia will be done, the other 3 are all very pricey, your going to be talking 500/600 return id say so unlss theres a charter plane it will be hard but well see what happens |

I would agree with most of what you say, and this time I would defo arrange a bus transfer to and from the stadium.
The fans inside the ground were great as we were at the edge of the irish section and there was no room for our flag and the Russians put it up[ for us in their section.
As for drinking in the hotel after the match not a bad idea and the bars arnt that bad in the hotel we were in.

You can apply for an eVisa for Armenia see link below
Paper applications for for visas are processed in the Armenian Embassy in London.
Looks like passports need to be valid for 6 months AFTER you visit. Edited by AidoM - 08 Feb 2010 at 10:23pm |

Would love to make all away trips, but finances will definately have their say. Andorra(Barcelona) would be a definate. Would love to do Macedonia and Armenia. The cost would put me off Russia, not the stories.

We went on a package deal so they were for us so i wasnt aware buses were organised for independent travellers. We were all frog marched into the stadium and some lads with large flags were told they couldn't bring their flags in.
The McDonalds was stormed by the Neo Nazi's and the cops were just useless. You could almost smell the corruption.
As has been said look out for one another and stay in groups.
